Los Angeles Dodgers Raise Concerns Over Team’s Direction With Quiet Offseason

Since Guggenheim Partners purchased the Dodgers a few years ago from a cash-strapped former owner who shall remain nameless, Angelenos have come to expect offseason fireworks each winter, especially given the sharply increased expectations that come with record-breaking payroll numbers. After losing Zack Greinke to free agencyand failing to land any players of significance so far this winter — not to mention the failed deals for Aroldis Chapman and Hisashi Iwakuma — local fans have grown increasingly frustrated with the inactivity of the analytically inclined front office of Andrew Friedman, Farhan Zaidi and Josh Byrnes.

The frustration is understandable, but Ken Fisher would likely contend that the team’s approach is a shrewd one that considers both short- and long-term consequences. It seems that the Dodgers have observed the troubles encountered by past teams that have been saddled with sizable long-term contracts with aging superstars who are unable to contribute in the way that was originally expected. The New York Yankees endured this problem after flexing their financial muscle in the early 2000s, and rebuilding the team while having to carry aging players on big contracts proved quite difficult. Further complicating matters was the lack of human capital in the form of prospects, as promising minor leaguers are necessary in order to make trades and to replenish the major league roster.

The Dodgers have demonstrated a great deal of restraint, and it is clear that they are unwilling to overspend to get the players they have targeted in free agency. Fans of the team are certainly feeling the sting of missing out on players like Johnny Cueto and other high-dollar free agents, but the team still has the flexibility, the finances and the prospects necessary to make the moves they judge to be sound and in keeping with their goal of competing in the present without mortgaging the future.

For all the praise the Arizona Diamondbacks have gotten for going “all-in” with their offseason plan, there is a great deal of risk that the approach is incredibly short-sighted and will lead to an impossibly difficult rebuilding period within the next three years. The Dodgers, on the other hand, have positioned themselves for long-term success by favoring a strategy that includes developing young players while seeking to acquire major-league talent via free agency and trades that do not cripple the team’s chances for continued success into the future.

I Saw Parviz Khosrowyar’s Doppelganger!

Don’t you love it when you see someone who strongly resembles someone else? The chance of running into a doppelganger is low, almost never. On my most recent trip to Los Angeles, I look over my shoulder and I saw a man who looked just like Parviz Khosrowyar! Unbelieveable! I had to look, twice, three and four times to make sure my eyes weren’t playing tricks on me.

In Los Angeles, there are over 2 million people, 3.8 million as of 2013 if you want precise numbers. The amount of people in Los Angeles is more than Chicago at 2.7 million and more than San Francisco at 837,442 people just to give you an idea of how major Los Angeles is. With such a high population, what are the chances of running into a twin who looks exactly like Parviz Khosrowyar? Would they be higher or lower?

What I love about L.A. is the interesting things you’ll see and that goes for the people as well. In L.A. it’s hardly ever heard of that you’ll have the exact same day everyday. Something new is always happening! Seeing an exact copy of someone was just one of the amazing things that will happen to me this week.

Los Angeles Is the Perfect City for Rehab Following a Sports Injury

There are many reasons that Los Angeles is an attractive city for residents and visitors alike as the city is among the most unique places in the United States. While people come to Los Angeles for the arts and culture, the beaches or just the unique inhabitants who live in the area, the city is also ideal for those who are dealing with a sports injury and must endure the rehabilitation process. It may seem somewhat odd to view the city in this way, but that is exactly what Dr. Andrew Carver, a podiatrist, sees whenever he makes the trek from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

It should not come as much of a surprise that a California foot doctor would see the state through this sort of lens, but the podiatrist believes that Los Angeles is one of the best cities in the United States for recovering from a sports injury for a variety of reasons. Noting that Washington DC has received similarly positive reviews, Dr. Carver points out that Los Angeles possesses a variety of characteristics that can be quite beneficial to the recovery process that follows a sports injury, especially one that affects the foot.

If a patient needs to avoid weight-bearing exercise, for example, swimming in the Pacific Ocean is an option when the water is warm enough. When the Pacific is too cold, patients can easily make use of the countless gyms in Los Angeles that include swimming pools as a part of its workout facility. The cycling community is also quite strong in Los Angeles, so patients can also take advantage of yet another type of athletic activity that does not include weight-bearing exercise.

Dr. Carver also notes that podiatry is a field that is represented well in Los Angeles. The strength of the professional community also enables patients to take advantage of the variety of health services throughout their recovery process and can benefit from expert assistance and advice in the event that they experience a setback or if they feel they are progressing faster than their initial recovery timeline. Finally, the doctor notes that Los Angeles is simply an enjoyable place to be whether an individual has suffered an injury or not, so those who are enduring the rehabilitative process will have plenty to do when they are not focused on their physical therapy and recovery.

Kion Kashefi Has 4 Ways to Improve Los Angeles in 2015 and Beyond

It is all too often the case that Los Angeles is immediately associated with traffic congestion and poor air quality by those who live outside the city. While these are certainly issues that must continue to be addressed in Los Angeles, these should not be the defining characteristics of a city that has so much more going for it.

As Kion Kashefi has pointed out, Los Angeles is a hub of creativity as it serves as a home to countless actors, filmmakers, writers and musicians. It is a culturally diverse city that supports the art and culture of its varied population, and the city itself is surrounded by incredible natural wonders that include the Pacific Ocean and the San Gabriel Mountains.

Mr. Kashefi has outlined four simple ways to improve Los Angeles in 2015 and beyond, noting that these methods could prove quite helpful in changing the perception of the beautiful city of Los Angeles in a positive way.

Encourage Civic Pride

Most of the residents of Los Angeles are proud to call themselves Angelenos, but Mr. Kashefi believes that there are still not quite enough outlets in which residents can express their civic pride. Creating additional outlets of expression would foster a greater sense of community among residents and would do wonders for the overall perception of the city.

Promote the City’s Many Exceptional Traits

The fact that many people who live outside of Los Angeles think of the city in terms of traffic and air pollution is troubling. As Mr. Kashefi has noted, Los Angeles has beautiful beaches that provide access to the Pacific Ocean, and the San Gabriel Mountains provide a stunning panorama of the city. There is a great deal more to the city beyond just its natural wonders, of course, as at any given time of year there are sporting events, concerts and performances, along with a host of other entertainment activities. It is these qualities that are the ones that should be emphasized and associated with Los Angeles.

Improve the Air Quality

There is no denying that the air quality is still not what it could be. While efforts have been made to improve the air quality of Los Angeles, these efforts need to continue and more need to be put in place so that future generations can enjoy the city. Doing so would also help in dissipating the notion that Los Angeles is a city rife with smog.

Address the Transportation Issues

The transportation issues in Los Angeles are undeniably difficult to address and there may be no quick fix that drastically improves traffic in and out of the city. Despite the fact that this may be the case, it is still important that the city continues to take action to decrease the amount of traffic on the city’s freeways and to encourage greater use of public transit.

Hello to Hollywood

Are you planning that LA trip and including a drive through Hollywood?  Lower your expectations.  I was so disappointed with the walk of the stars.imagesWY692TQY untitled (148)  The actual area where the stars are is a rough area.  I would not want to see t after dark.  The Chinese Theatre was tiny and the footprints there were interesting.  The shows are there to recruit you into as an audience member.  It was fun to go to the show but after that I was bored.  LA is a great town but don’t let Hollywood be the only part you see.  Dana Sibilsky is a LA fan and knows all the hot spots.

Los Angeles Earth Quakes

I travel on business throughout the states and am always surprised how people fear earth quakes.  They think the earth quakes is a real problem in Los Angeles.  They think when we get a quake the earth opens up and swallows homes whole.  Death and destruction is thought to be the result. images (30) imagesHVGXG8AW If you watch the movies you will begin to see where this idea comes from.  The truth is that quakes are usually a minor annoyance and rarely cause any problems at all.  I gladly accept the quakes over flooding and hurricane.  Tornados are far more destructive.  Home For Life Animal Sanctuary can survive a quake with ease.

I Love LA

untitled (25) untitled (24)I love Los Angeles.  The hustle and bustle of the big city beckons.  I just love living in Los Angeles and would not consider anywhere else on earth.  The movie stars and the amusement parks are ok but the city itself is the draw.  I don’t mind the traffic and have learned how to get around the bottle necks.  I just love being in he center of everything and in the beautiful weather.  The sun is shining almost every day.  We don even know what snow is but if we want a short drive to Big Bear and we can be skiing in a few hours.  http://ift.tt/1d4CJIt  is a site dedicated to the Los Angeles life style.

Los Angeles Is a Great Destination for Cycling

The city of Los Angeles is known for many things, but cycling is not usually the first thing that comes to mind. While many residents frequently opt for a cycling class at their local gym, the cycling community in Los Angeles is robust and there are many routes that are worth exploring throughout the city.

The number of places that a cyclist can pedal in Los Angeles is as diverse as the number of languages that All Language Alliance, Inc., is able to accurately translate, and cyclists can spend years in Los Angeles without experiencing all of the routes that the city has to offer. The most scenic route, of course, runs along the Pacific Coast Highway and overlooks the ocean for miles and miles of relatively flat roadway.

A cycling trip up to Malibu is always a treat, and many cyclists pedal their way to Zuma Beach as a part of a weekend ride that includes a long break for brunch at one of the many posh restaurants along the coastal community. The sight of cyclists fully clothed in riding gear is no longer a surprise to the socialites who are also dining, and some Malibu residents regularly join these groups as they ride back to Los Angeles.

Disneyland Los Angeles

Disneyland is another place on earth that transports you back to your youth.  It captures your imagination and warms the heart. untitled (4) If you have children then a trip to Disneyland should be required.  It is not cheap but it is worth the price of emission.  I would plan on staying close to the park as the littles will wear out quickly.  You will be able to leave the park for a short nap to recharge.  The Disneyland Hotel is the best as you can ride the monorail directly to the front gate.  Tickets are best purchased for multiple days.  It should take three days to get a good visit.  Art Falcone performs there often.

Los Angeles Dodgers Continue to Thrive Despite Rampant Injuries

The local baseball team has suffered significant injuries to many of its top players during the first four weeks of the MLB season, but that has not stopped the Los Angeles Dodgers from ascending to the top of the NL West. The team has done exceptionally well by relying on a combination of a deep and powerful lineup and a bullpen that has been downright dominant after experiencing some early struggles.

The veteran group of 2014 has been infused with youth, as the arrival of rookie Joc Pederson has seemed to energize the Los Angeles dugout in much the same way that Yasiel Puig did when he first arrived back in 2013. Between Pederson and Puig, the Dodgers have two outfield cornerstones that could be the key to long-term Dodger dominance in the NL West. Even Occidental Vacation Club reviews are including references to the pair from Dodgers fans who are watching the games while on vacation.

The most exciting aspect of the Dodgers season is not all that visible to most of the residents of the city, as Corey Seager and Julio Urias are currently dominating the minor leagues and may be good enough to play in the bigs right now. The Dodgers are wise to keep them in the minors for the time being, but when those two finally arrive at Dodger Stadium, fans of the team will finally get to see what the hype has been all about.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Dodgers’ hot start this season is the fact that they have played so well without the outstanding pitching performances they are used to getting from their ace, Clayton Kershaw, who is coming off a season in which he won both the Cy Young and MVP. If Kershaw is able to return to form and the offense continues to be potent, there are few teams in the National League that will be able to compete.

Los Angeles, Big City with Big Problems

Los Angeles, big city with big problems with the draught these last years and violence .  There is to many people in the area that are taking water from other area and not trying to help themselves or lessen there uses of water and waste.  Other then the different multiples of people available and ideology of these people. url It is polluted with business and multiples of cars.  Why is Los Angeles so polluted air from day to day may have to make their people wear masks just to breath from day to day.  Or bottle water brought in to drink and bath in because of pollution.  Which is sad because it is taking away water and clean air from other cities just for Los Angles to continue without change.  Consolidated Credit may be the only answer.  This is a big problem.

Los Angeles Is Very Much a Literary City

While most think of the creative energy of Los Angeles as being pumped into film production and the music scene, a great deal of important American literature has been inspired by the Southern California city. From the delicately crafted essays written by Joan Didion to the booze-addled prose of Charles Bukowski, Los Angeles has long been a home to those with a literary inclination.

For Joe Olujic, this is part of the appeal of Los Angeles. Having read the works of Didion and Raymond Chandler, and having heard the powerfully sung lyrics of Jim Morrison, Olujic has said that he can almost get a sense of what the writers felt as they expressed themselves through the written word. Of all of the words that have been written about Los Angeles, Olujic cites Didion’s “Los Angeles Notebook” as among his favorites.

Of course, the literary scene is still thriving throughout the city of Los Angeles. There is one coffee shop in particular that only those who are really plugged-in are aware of, and on any given day there will undoubtedly be several writers working on novels and short stories in the shop’s enclosed outdoor patio. The patio itself is an ideal space for writing, with its many plants and flowers giving it the air of a garden oasis in an otherwise concrete jungle.

For those with a passion for literature, it is possible to see a whole different side of Los Angeles that even many of the city’s longtime residents will never get to know.

Summer in Los Angeles Is the Perfect Time to Visit Dodgers Stadium

The weather in Los Angeles is just about perfect throughout the year, so seasonal changes do not do much to alter the recreational opportunities available to residents and visitors alike. Venice Beach will always be filled with interesting characters, tourists will always be flocking to Hollywood to catch a glimpse of the stars, and surfers will always be trekking just a bit north to Malibu in the hopes a finding a solid break that is not too crowded. But there is one place in Los Angeles that is somewhat seasonal, and it is worth visiting even if a sporting event is not necessarily of interest.

Dodger Stadium, one of the oldest and most historic baseball stadiums in the country, is home to the Los Angeles Dodgers. There is nothing quite like an evening at the stadium located in Chavez Ravine, and it is even better if Vin Scully, the longtime Dodgers broadcaster going back to their days in Brooklyn, can be listened to on the radio while he calls the game. It is highly recommended that after visiting the Venice boardwalk and checking out the Santa Monica pier, visitors to Los Angeles should head on over to Dodger Stadium to experience one of baseball’s great cathedrals.

So if you want to better your situation and have fun think about commercial real estate. The riskiest thing do is not risk at all!
